LaPoyner ISD and Athens ISD Spearhead 12 District Rally  March 31, 2011 in Athens Texas
East Texas school officials, civic leaders, community members, parents and students representing 12 school districts from Henderson, Anderson, Kaufman, Cherokee, and Van Zandt counties met at Bruce Field stadium in Athens Texas and held a joint rally to support public education.  Spearheading this event include LaPoyner ISD Superintendent Dr. B.L. Davis and Athens ISD Superintendent Fred Hayes.  

Speakers include Joe Smith with TexasISD.com and others.  This was a great example of creating public awareness.

TASA/TASB Legislative Conference and MEaP Rally 

TASA/TASB Legislative Conference held a "Make Education a Priority" Rally in Austin on March 30, 2011.  Attendees received an update on legislative issues and then traveled to the Texas Capitol for a 30 minute "Make Education a Priority" Rally.    


Westlake Academy Public Charter School Adopts the Make Education a Priority Resolution

Aledo ISD 
Using a Letter Campaign, the Aledo ISD Community Collected 4,895 signed MEaP Letters and successfully delivered them to the capitol during the Make Education a Priority News Conference held back on January 31, 2011   
Aledo ISD Enrollment: 4,600


Denison ISD
In a short period of time, Denison ISD Collected 2,225 signed MEaP Letters.

Creating Public Awareness by Letter Campaign and Community Forums.  
All three districts collected letters with a capitol delivery held in March 2011. 

Trustees and Administrators have also provided several well attended public forums and have shared a common message on the state of the current school funding crisis.  The name of the Public Forum:
"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, a Taxpayer's guide to the Public School Funding Crisis"

The Fort Worth ISD is creating Public Awareness through the use of its district website.  A three and one-half minute video titled Fort Worth ISD Finance - Plain and Simple is an excellent public educational tool.

Van Independent School District 
Van Zandt and Rains County Meeting
Van ISD hosted a Van Zandt/Rains County Eight District Meeting and discussed "Make Education a Priority" Initiative including the Resolution Adoption Campaign and a Local Awareness Campaign.

Proactive leadership was found when 12 West Texas School Districts came together and held a Press Conference under the message "Unite to Make Education a Priority."   Your leadership is appreciated.

Save Texas Schools Organization
A number of organizations are doing their part of making sure the topics of school finance and eduction are found as the highest priority during the 2013 83rd legislative session.  One such group is the Save Texas Schools organization.
A rally in Austin held on March 12, 2011 found 12,000 people sharing the same message at the State Capitol in Austin Texas.
